Restaurant Review: Omny Kitchen
Celebrity chef-driven restaurants often make a lot of noise but deliver very little. Omny Kitchen, however, breaks that pattern. The name — a clever spin on “omni,” meaning all — is a reflection of Chef Vicky Ratnani’s wide-ranging culinary influences, drawn from years of working at best of kitchens across the globe and personally exploring diverse food cultures. Omny Kitchen is not just a world cuisine restaurant, it is chef Ratnani’s personal journey too.
Atmospherics
From the moment you walk in, Omny’s interiors set the tone. The space is tastefully done — modern yet warm, with thoughtful design elements that don’t scream for attention but make an impact. A long, inviting, and well-stocked bar greets you as you enter. Whether you’re in for a cocktail or a cold brew with a twist, the energy at the bar feels just right. The seating is well spaced in dining area. You don’t feel claustrophobic even when the space is full.
Food
At Omny Kitchen, global ideas meet desi comfort, and the results are genuinely impressive. The menu is playful and unpretentious, filled with bold flavours and creative combinations. Dishes like aloo tuk bravas and lotus stem pakoda are cheeky twists on tapas, where Sindhi comfort food gets a contemporary edge.
Ceviche of seabass and tuna, Crudo, and the delicate buff carpaccio — show off Vicky’s finesse with freshness and balance. The just jerk chicken legs and prime lamb chops pack smoky, spicy punches, while the Uff Juicy burger lives up to its name. We also loved the gambas al ajillo. But what really stood out was the butternut squash Sai bhaji and tridali dal, chef’s way of showcasing his Sindhi comfort food in a swanky modern restaurant.
The drinks menu deserves a mention of its own. The Omny saffron infused cold brew with milk and cheese foam was refreshing and fun. Cocktails here managed to struck the right balance of being inventive without being overcomplicated. Desserts, too, didn’t disappoint — especially the cleverly reimagined mango falooda that hits the nostalgia button while the approach and presentation being all new.
Plus and minus
With Omny Kitchen, chef Vicky Ratnani has created something rare — a celebrity-chef restaurant that doesn’t just ride on a name but delivers good food and cocktails.
